San Jose: Proposed road diet for 4th Street north of Jackson

The city of San Jose, CA invites interested parties to a community meeting regarding a proposed “Complete Streets” project for a one mile section of North 4th Street between Jackson and Commercial Streets.

As part of the street maintenance program, the city plans to reduce the current four lane configuration to three lanes after re-paving this portion of 4th Street.

This change will add bike lanes to either side of 4th through Japantown, across Heddding to Commercial, and make it consistent with this street south of Jackson.

The city also proposes to change street parking on 4th between Jackson and Taylor from time restricted to unrestricted.

The meeting takes place the evening of Tuesday, June 21, 2016, 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM at the Northside Community Center, 488 N. Sixth Street, San José, CA 95112.

1. Wouldn’t this be a good time for them to also install a parking protected bike lane?
