Bicycle safety workshop and more

Before I get started: It’s a long story, but I lost my bike helmet. I’m seeking recommendations. My strong preference is for a well ventilated “road” style helmet. No skater or urban helmets, no mountain bike helmets. I’m looking at around the $100 price range, so helmets like the Giro Atmos or Specialized Propero. Let me know what you think below the photo of cyclists taking up three lanes of El Camino Real near the Santa Clara Caltrain station.

Could you use a bicycle wall calendar?

Amazon says this is the best selling 2015 bicycle wall calendar.

Bicycle Bliss Wall Calendar 2015

This calendar from Amber Lotus publishing shows people cycling through breathtaking scenery, with an emphasis on both urban cycling and adventure rides.

Disclosure: I might get a few pennies to help me celebrate the New Year if you buy this calendar through Amazon. You can see top selling books at my online cycling book shop. The selection is updated every week, and they’re worth browsing if I don’t say so myself. You might notice that I’ve removed the option to purchase through Powell’s Bookstore and added Bookshop Santa Cruz. 36% of Cyclelicious readers view these pages from California, and about 30% of those California followers are within reasonable cycling distance of Bookshop Santa Cruz.

Miss January 2009

The 2009 Female Mechanics Calendar features New York wrench Susan Lindell (pictured above) in January. The calendar is attractively laid out and nicely produced. Anyone looking for a holiday gift for an independent female could do worse than choosing this calendar.

And, if that weren’t enough, there’s a Calendar Release Party at the Luscious Garage in San Francisco on Saturday evening, December 13.
