Cat’s new electric super cruiser

Even if you don’t know Cat, you might have seen his old Blackbird Super Cruiser around town. He recently completed an all new redesign that’s more better than the original.

About five years ago, Cat bought an electric conversion kit for his cruiser style bicycle. That bike broke after about 2000 miles of hard-commuting miles, but he had such a ball he decided to build a new cruiser from scratch. Most people who see Cat and his bike just call it “The Bike,” but he calls it the Blackbird Super Cruiser. I first saw the Blackbird in 2010.

Specialized Turbo ebike seen in the wild

I was just riding along this morning when a guy whizzed past at about 25 MPH on his red Specialized Turbo on the Guadalupe River Trail this morning. You can just see the rider and his bike in the enlarged inset.

Specialized Turbo seen in the wild

Green shirt pulled out the stops to chase Turbo Guy down. I tagged along in this little chase until I dropped my camera immediately after shooting this photo 🙁

The Turbo is Specialized’s entry into the electric bicycle market.

Specialized launches US sales for Turbo eBikes

Do you remember the Specialized Turbo? That’s the super hot electric bicycle Specialized introduced to the European market last year.

Today, Specialized makes this e-bike available to American buyers.

These bikes are available only at a limited number of dealers; I’m told the minimum buy-in was three bikes.

I’m in San Francisco today for the product launch, so watch for my impressions at Twitter and on my personal Google Plus page.
