92 foot long tandem sets new world record

Dutch engineering students Teiji Meier and Jan Bart Brink set the world record last winter riding the world’s longest tandem, according to this video. Their two person tandem was 28 meters (92 feet) long and weight nearly 900 lbs (440 kg)!

To set the world record, the students had to ride the bike 100 meters unaided. The stoker did all of the work pushing that huge bike!

Santana has a hugely long tandem that you can piece together like Lego blocks — you add a section with S&S couplings for each rider you want to add. Does anybody know the maximum length of Santana’s tandem?

Props to Michael Franken.
