Bicycle GPS tracker

GPS Track This sells small, lightweight GPS trackers for motorcycles and bicycles.

The “GPS Track This” device combines cell phone technology with a GPS to send SMS text alerts when the bike has been moved. For bicycles, the GPS tracker is hidden inside of a bicycle tail light that you affix to your seat post. You can also track the location of the GPS unit on the web to help you recover your bike.

The bike unit costs UK£159, or about US$250.

How much does it cost per month, though?

In the UK it appears to be on a per message basis. The web page mentions a pre-loaded SIM that can send 200 messages. The web service is provided free by the GPS tracking vendor.

There’s a US company that does GPS tracking devices for freight — they were talking about a similar device at one time, but their device would be hidden in the seat tube if I recall correctly. I need to check where they’re at on that.

Umm, renters insurance only cost $200/year and covers everything I own, anywhere.

Did you ever see where that US company was with their GPS that goes into a seattube?

Seems like I’ve seen something like that. DOn’t remember where.

I am in the process of developing one that fits in seat tube
