On today’s video of their Alternate Travel Project, “Castle” stars Stana Katic and Seamus Dever ride public transportation in Los Angeles. Stana rides the subway while Seamus cruises on the bus.
The two TV stars have teamed up to promote alternative transportation by pledging to go without a car for seven days in Los Angeles. They’ve walked, biked, and used public transportation to get around. In today’s video, Seamus and Stana talk about riding Los Angeles County Metro bus and rail.
Seamus says bus transportation is “perceived as inefficient and crowded,” but if more people rode the bus “some of the stigma would be taken off, I think.” He tells us how easy transit route planning now is with current technology like Google Transit.
Stana talks about inspiration “when you’re not stuck in the bubble of your car, when you can go about traveling slowly and really absorbing this wonderful inspiration that’s all around you.”
Sierra Club executive director Michael Brune points out that people who ride public transportation save the equivalent of a Persian Gulf supertanker every 11 days.
