This was a week and a half ago and I missed it. From CBS San Francisco:
A bicyclist was injured in a shooting in Richmond early Monday morning, and told police that he was shot by a sniper on a rooftop. No matter how bizarre it may sound, so far in the investigation police say they believe the victim’s story.
More –> Richmond Bicyclist Shot By Sniper. Richmond, California is in the San Francisco “East” Bay, north of Berkeley and Oakland and was ranked the 6th most dangerous city in the United States in 2010.
I had to serve papers in Richmond a few years ago and I was always on super high alert there. It is a messed up place.
That’s certainly something they don’t teach you to look out for in bike safety courses.
Maybe we should add it? ‘While scanning for traffic and road hazards, be on the lookout for snipers.’

It always seemed weird that Berkeley is an enclave surrounded by fairly rough areas.
