Says this marketing copy from 1958 for the Raleigh “Glamour Bicycle”: “Peggy Hayward models a new Raleigh bicycle specially designed for fashion-conscious women. Its attachments include a make-up mirror, lipstick holder and dress guard.”
This Raleigh appears to be based on Boulevard Tourist and seems very similar to the (Raleigh-owned) Triumph “Pink Witch,” which featured a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub, front rack, fenders, and bell. Newspaper clamp, front hub dynamo and lights were available options on the Pink Witch.
Add a cell phone holder, and you’d have all the distractions currently known to (wo)man!
Glamour bikes were the golden age of biking. The o;d Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub I remember having one of those on an old bike of mine.
Interesting information. I wish to be read more. How do I can?
