Bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be allowed only on the eastern sidewalk during this weekend’s closure of the Golden Gate Bridge. Shown below is the western span, which will be closed.
The bridge will be closed to most vehicular starting at 12:01 am on Saturday, January 10 and will reopen at 4:00 am on Monday, January 12 to install a movable median barrier to replace the system of soft hit posts currently used to divide the traffic directions on the bridge.
The Bridge’s east sidewalk will remain open during the closure to pedestrians and cyclists. Please use caution on the sidewalk as it will likely be heavily traveled. Parking lots at the bridge will be closed this weekend.
Golden Gate Transit buses will be permitted to cross the Bridge throughout the weekend and will operate weekend schedules. Routes 10, 70, and 101 provide frequent bus service between San Francisco and the North Bay. Routes 10 and 17 and late-night Route 70 trips will not operate through Sausalito this weekend. Instead, customers may ride a free shuttle between downtown Sausalito and Marin City to connect with their desired route. Stops between downtown Sausalito and the Bridge will not be served.
Golden Gate Sausalito Ferry will operate normal weekend service. Golden Gate Larkspur Ferry will operate added service (between 5:45 AM and 1:40 AM) on Saturday, Jan. 10 and Sunday, Jan. 11.
