A group of Coast Guardsmen will begin cycling down the Pacific Coast in Sausalito, with a planned stop in Santa Cruz on Monday. They ride to raise funds for a memorial to fallen Coast Guardsmen.
The same day Santa Cruz Ecology Action got kids at Delaveaga Elementary School in Santa Cruz to register their bikes, a thief stole one of the bikes from a 10 year girl. When the bike was later found abandoned, police were able to return the bike to its rightful owner.
Most of Soquel Drive across Santa Cruz County has decently wide bike lanes and shoulders. This makes this smooth road a favored route for road cyclists. There are a couple of pinch points to watch for, though.
