Andreas just published his Top 50 Bicycle Blogs for 2011. He used ranking information from Google and Alexa then mixed that with Twitter metrics and comment activity to come up with his list. The most interesting random fact for me: 11% of blogs included are focused on “Cycle Chic”!

Tokyo earthquake and bicycles

With damaged roads, no power, and public transportation shut down due to Japan’s Friday afternoon earthquake, millions of workers in Tokyo are stuck with no rail transportation. What to do?

No news, good news?

Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes for my family. Phone, power and Internet are down all throughout Japan and especially in the hard hit region of northeastern Japan where my parents and my mother’s family live.

Can’t get through

I was drifting off to sleep tonight when I heard mention of the 8.9 earthquake off of the coast near Sendai, Japan. My parents live about 180 miles north of Sendai in Aomori Prefecture.

David Mobley apparently created this one hour self-defense video for the community access cable TV channel in Missoula, Montana. He purports to demonstrate self defense techniques you can use while riding your bicycle. Now he sells his “Bicycle Combat Tactics” video on Amazon.com.
