It relates to the unceasing whinging from certain people that New York City is giving itself completely over to bicycles only, whereas Streetsblog NYC reporter Noah Kazis writes, “According to Streetsblog’s rough estimates, using generous assumptions for the square footage of recent street changes, less than one half of one percent of NYC’s street network has been allocated to bikes, buses, and pedestrians under Janette Sadik-Khan.” Read the full discussion at Streetsblog.

Random Thought: Are scofflaw cyclists really better drivers than they are cyclists?

Bay Area call for transportation projects

The San Francisco Bay Area Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), which oversees planning and financing of transportation in the nine-county Bay Area, issued a Call for Projects for the for the Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy (RTP/SCS). This is part of the process to determine what major regional projects receive funding for the 2013 Transportation Plan.
