Over 130 recovered bicycles in Marin County, California

On June 24, 2014, at about 5:00PM, Deputies from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Problem Oriented Policing Unit, along with Detectives from the Marin County Major Crimes Task Force and San Rafael Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit executed several search warrants within Marin County in regards to a major bicycle theft ring. The search warrants were served at a residence in the 1100 block of Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Kentfield, a storage facility on Industrial Way, Greenbrae, and a motorhome in Corte Madera. Rebecca Hammett, a 50 year old woman who resides in Kentfield, had been buying suspected stolen bicycles from various bicycle thieves in Marin. Hammett was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail.

Ride Report – Two DUI maniac vs cyclist results in DNF

I received word of this violent encounter between a pair of drunks in a car and a group of cyclists somewhere in the vicinity of Oroville, California. The “two girls” in this narrative are in the riding group. The assailants are apparently in their 20s; the cyclist giving the narrative, Chuck, was participating in the Davis 600 brevet. Chuck is 60-ish years old and rode about 100 miles into the foothills of the Sierra Mountains before he was attacked.

Bike vs car: The rest of the story

By now you all have seen this story of an off-the-rails cyclist in Mill Valley, California who beat an innocent motorist and sent him to the hospital in what the San Francisco Chronicle calls a road rage attack.

Cyclist attacked, robbed on Palo Alto bike path

The city of Palo Alto, California issued this press release yesterday afternoon. The attack occurred on the sidepath alongside East Bayshore Road on the Bay side of Highway 101 in Palo Alto, CA.
