Pedalfest 2011 @ Jack London Square

Pedalfest is a free celebration of bikes, cycling, food, family and fun
on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 10 am – 5 pm at Jack London Square.

Pedalfest 2011

Pedalfest is for everyone –from the recreational rider and casual observer to the seasoned cyclist– to share in the joy of riding.”
Take your bike on the East Bay Ferry to get there, and your Ferry ride is free!

A full schedule of events and activities promises something for everyone. I’m especially looking forward to the trials demo and the vintage bike exhibit.

Opportunities for those interested in volunteering are still available.

I’ll be taking the Ferry from Alameda to attend this much-anticipated East Bay bicycle event. If you see me there, be sure and say, “Hi!”

Vidal Sassoon was a bicycle messenger

Hair stylist Vidal Sassoon apparently had an interesting life as a teen and young adult. He grew up in a Jewish orphanage in London, worked through the London Blitz delivering packages as a 14 year old bike courier and picked street fights with fascists in post-war Britian as a member of the infamous 43 Group before joining Haganah / the Israeli Defense Force in 1948.
