Boris wants bikes off the road, TfL says “Not yet”

For those people who ride bikes, London Mayor Boris Johnson reportedly wants to make some bicycle facility use mandatory where available, according to ITV news. Transport for London (TfL) responded to multiple media requests for comment, saying they have no plans to mandate cyclist use of London’s bicycle superhighways.

UK bicycle safety politico rides helmetless

UK Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport Norman Baker, who is responsible for cycling, walking and local transportation planning, has attracted some controversy from car-driving road safety advocates. Baker likes to demonstrate the safety of cycling by riding without a bicycle helmet.

Baker earned fame earlier in his political career by eschewing a government provided car and electing to use a Brompton folding bicycle for trips between his office and the House of Commons.

Kelly Brook rides an old timey trike

 

Model Kelly Brook joined Olympic gold medalist Chris Hoy on old fashioned cycles in an appearance to announce the return of Sky Ride, the British open streets event that attracted over 100,000 people to ride their bikes last August.
