Me sharing the road with cars, buses and trucks on Santa Clara Street, downtown San Jose, California.
I have about a seven mile commute from the office to downtown. Six miles of it is on the Guadalupe River Trail, a fully separated bike path with a river, trees and other vegetation, wildlife and the occasional jogger and cyclist. I hop onto Santa Clara Street if I need to wake up after six miles of peaceful bliss.
Yikes! I have to admit, some of the lane-splitting and door zone maneuvers made me a bit uncomfortable!
nice vid. I like the position of the camera. Can you show the set up you have for mounting your camera.
@Reuben – Here’s my secret: I’m moving at maybe 5 MPH in the doorzone. 4X to 8X speedup on that video, which is why it’s so jerky.
PVC pipe strapped to the back of the bike to which I’ve mounted the camera. It sticks up like a mast behind me. I also angled it out a little to get the over-the-shoulder POV.
Wow.. no helmet… made me feel so dirty and free to watch that. Thanks!
Everything I know about traffic safety I learned from your book, Robert.
Are you still in Denver?
