They’re a dangerous breed, mate. While you’re not looking, one of ’em just might sneak past you and win the Tour de France. Do I still need a spoilers warning?

Good morning. By May, the hills surrounding Santa Clara Valley usually have turned a dusky brown as the vegetation dries up. Calfire crews stafff their stations to prepare for the fire season, and hundreds of cyclists ride the roads and local trails.
This year, however, we have rain. We have temperatures 20 degrees cooler than normal. Hypothermic racers get pulled from the podium to get them to a warm sauna. Cyclists wear hats and gloves to ward off the chill.
Happy Monday. I hope you’re enjoying the weather as much as I am today. I suppose I shouldn’t complain about the much cooler than normal temperatures in California; at least we’re not under threat from hail and tornadoes!
Happy Friday, everybody!

“Don’t Kill the Messenger,” about bike messengers in Washington DC, highlights the danger of biking in DC, so whatever. I’m not a messenger nor do I ride like one, but I’ve been cycling with traffic for over a couple of decades now and I’ve yet to even come close to having titanium bits inserted into my wrist. F-bomb alert in this video. I yelled at a woman driving a huge GM SUV this morning when she tried to merge directly into me, but that’s unusual. Props to Rosscott, Inc.
There are several contests happening right now where the prize is a SHINY BRAND NEW BICYCLE. I’ve been meaning to put together a post listing all of these contest, but hey look! Shelly did the hard work for me and you and lists those contests here at Riding Pretty. Thanks, Shelly!
