39 year old Palo Alto resident Eric Salvatierra was a Vice President for PayPal. He apparently commuted by bike and Caltrain from his Palo Alto home to his office.
I wrote a post on my new blog, Grid Chicago, about bicycle access on transit in Chicagoland. It’s that metropolitan area with Chicago, Illinois, as a hub and reaches to a small part of southeast Wisconsin and northwest Indiana. We’ve got Metra trains (like Caltrain), and Chicago Transit Authority trains (like BART and Muni underground lines).
There are definitely ways to improve getting bikes on trains over here, and I opened up the discussion to readers to suggest improvements. I’m going to record everyone’s comments into a database so that when it comes time to push the transit agencies to make changes, we’ll know where to start.
According to some sources at Caltrain, an estimated 80,000 rides were provided on the train service on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 when San Francisco threw a ticker tape parade in honor of the Giants World Series victory.
Bullies suck.
Lockwood Lane is a 30 mph residential street with 3,500 vehicles per day during the week, much less on a holiday weekend. My daughter and I biked down this lane last week when she fell over in the street.
Those of you who follow Caltrain already know about the track ‘incident’ during the evening commute last night.
