A salute to Ian, David, Dan, Karen, Brent, Karl and Vinny, who joined this morning’s San Jose Bike Train.
Vinny, a regular bike train participant, is a Vietnamese guy who routinely bikes to his technology job in Santa Clara. This morning he rode his Bianchi San Remo, a lugged CrMo touring bike. In his heavily accented English, Vinny told me about AC/DC’s upcoming tour of Vietnam.

Apparently, research shows that pedaling cadence is one of the factors motorists use to judge your speed.

While vacationing in Colorado earlier this month I biked through Garden of the Gods, a magnificent public park in the city of Colorado Springs where I encountered this combined pedestrian / bicycle lanes on the right side of a one-way road.

The San Mateo County Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee was established by a Board of Supervisors Resolution in September 2015 to advise the Board of Supervisors on policies, plans, and programs that affect people walking and bicycling for transportation in unincorporated parts of the county. The first meeting of the newly established citizen committee takes place Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 7 pm, in City of San Mateo City Hall, Conference Room A.
