I’m running behind today because of the weather. I got up, saw the rain, and went back to bed.
Yes, I know how to stay dry on the bike. Yes, I know I won’t melt. And yes, I know you folks in Seattle are probably wondering “what rain?” (Cue Bike Hugger and “You’re doing it wrong!”) And yes, I hear from everybody about how wonderful the extended rain is for our reservoirs in northern California, but for me the relentless showers are like a Chinese water torture. Drip, drip, drip, drip.
I guess I’m starting to get acclimated to semi-arid California. I just hope Sea Otter this week will stay dry!

We’re enjoying a beautiful day *ahhhh CHOO!* in the Bay Area — temperatures in the 70s F / low 20s C with gorgeous sunny skies *sneeze* encouraging scores of trees and flowers to ahchoo achoo achoo bloom. Perfect biking koff koff koff weather! I hope you’re enjoying the spring weather as much as I am!

With the April Fools shenanigans I missed this news from New York City: Rodney Seymour was doored by a truck driver while cycling home from work. When Seymour insisted on an accident report from the responding NYPD officer, the policeman got upset and issued Seymour two traffic tickets — one for riding without a bell and another for lacking side wheel reflectors — before apologizing to the truck driver for the inconvenience and letting him go without a ticket. 87 year old “still rides her bike — a 21-speed touring bike — to run errands, go to doctor appointments, and just for pleasure.”
The infamous Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona announced “Pedal Vision” in which female inmates are required to pedal a stationary bike if they want to watch the tube in their Tent City prison outside of Phoenix. (more…)
