Sacramento Grand Prix Women’s Criterium

The Sacramento Grand Prix took place around the Capitol building in Sacramento as a prelude to today’s Amgen Tour of California Stage 1 finish.

The winner of the one hour women’s criterium, Coryn Rivera for Team Peanut Butter and Company, is a 17 year old national champion with gold medals in Road, Track and Cyclocross. Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who himself was an athletic competitor, congratulates Coryn on her win.

UCI Worlds 2010 crash: Bike breaks in two

17 year old Danish racer Julie Leth slides across the boards Friday at the UCI Track World Championship 33 laps into the women’s scratch race, taking out four other racers in the crash. American Shelley Evans’ bike snapped in half in the smashup. (more…)
